To see: the Library where Giacomo completed his studies and a permanent museum. As of March 21, 2020, part of the main floor and the apartments where Giacomo Leopardi lived with his brothers are open to the public for the first time. A careful restoration, carried out under the supervision of the Superintendence of Fine Arts, has restored these spaces to their former glory.

Giacomo Leopardi was born in Recanati on June 29, 1798, to Count Monaldo Leopardi and Adelaide dei marchesi Antici.
The first of seven, this son demonstrated from his earliest years an extraordinary intelligence and a special desire for knowledge, while not neglecting the games of childhood and enjoying the joyful company of his siblings.
As his father notes in a family register memory of the main events of the family through the centuries: “On dƬ June 29, 1798. Was born at 7 p.m. my first child, male, delivered by my wife Adelaide happily, though after three whole days of labor……… On dƬ 30 he was baptized the after lunch in our parish of Monte Morello, by father Luigi Leopardi filippino, my uncle, and they raised him at the sacred font the then Citizens Filippo Antici my father-in-law, and Virginia Mosca Leopardi my mother.”
Ove Abitai Fanciullo
More than two centuries after the poet’s birth, the Leopardi family has opened to the public the most intimate rooms linked to his life.
āOve Abitai Fanciullo” (Where i lived as a child) is an itinerary that gives access to the ceremonial rooms of the palace, the gallery with its art collections, the garden that inspired the immortal verses of Le ricordanze and Leopardi’s apartments.
Looking out of his window, Giacomo used to admire the beloved moon and the vague stars of Ursa, which never ceased to inspire him to compose.
